UNESCO Galle Fort is approximately 2.5 hours by car from Colombo, making it an easy starting point for exploring Sri Lanka’s southern coast. Set within Galle Fort’s historic walls, 42 Lighthouse Street places you right among the character and energy of one of Sri Lanka’s most atmospheric destinations. Step outside and you are within easy reach of the Fort’s museums, galleries, independent boutiques, cafés and historic landmarks.

The southern coast is equally accessible. Unawatuna, with its sheltered waters and sandy beach, is approximately 20 minutes away by car, while the surf and laid-back coastal atmosphere of Weligama can be reached in around 40 minutes. Continue further along the coast to Mirissa for whale and dolphin watching or simply spend the day moving between the beaches and seaside towns that make this stretch of Sri Lanka so appealing.
